Evaluation Question 3

Question 3) What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Through my audience feedback I received I found out many a thing that helped structure the bases of my horror film trailer. I found out that 62.5% of responses watch horror films from time to time and this was a good large sum of people that the film could be aimed at. As well, I found that their favourite sub-genre of horror is physiological followed by paranormal. This then gave the strong implication of placing the two sub-genres together giving the audience the best of both and giving the film a greater audience, besides already having a large audience due to the amount of subject audience who have replied to the questionnaire. I then got the response for the audience’s favourite setting and this was tied between a school and a house, this could possibly be due to the age of the audience asked and what links to them, as well as what current horror films might be like. The bad/ evil in the movie wanted to be a paranormal spirit with a high majority vote from responses. Also there was the choice of main character and this was stuck between two, a male main character and a female, this was chosen by one vote and the female came top of this question, I tried to structure my movie this way but I did not have a strong enough female actor so a male actor had to step in and due to the close votes of the two sexes this seemingly would not have a great effect on the movie. Next was what people thought makes a good horror film and the large majority had said the storyline, this helped me make sure that I kept to a strong storyline but also with so backing stories to tie in with the main storyline. After this I asked the subject audience to place a variety of things in order of importance and the two main things that rose above the rest was sound and editing, with knowing the high want of this I made sure to put a lot of time and effort into generating good sounds and effects of editing using a very good movie editor called Adobe Premier Pro. lastly I asked what type of weapon scared them the most or would be most effective to use and I got a very strong response for saw/axe, I tried to add this into my film but the sheer size of these objects were out sizing a lot of the shots and didn't quite fit with ideas of the movie and the type of genre, whereas they’re more fitted to be within a gore film.

Overall I tried to keep within what the target audience’s answers were to be able to give them as they would like but, not just to follow everything that was wanted as it could add unwanted or unrelated parts to the movie and the trailer.
